Our last post ended in June. We have had lots of other fun things we did as the summer rolled on. So, again in chronological order here goes….
So in July we were able to go to visit my sister Lin and go to the Opera. While we were there we also got some family pictures done, as well as going to a parade. We did, and always do, enjoy going to the opera for its musical diversity and caliber. Glenn & Kayla loved visiting with Aunt/Uncle & Grandma & Grandpa. PS-the portraits are still in development, we’ll get some of these out after they have been finished up.
Then in August we attended my family reunion. We had fun doing smore’s, hamburgers, weenie roast and some fun games. Then the next day we went to a local lake and had lots of fun. Glenn REALLY loved the water and spent almost the entire time splashing and playing. Amanda and Kayla spent time in the water too, and also watching Glenn swim. Paul got lots of time in the canoes/boats since a lot of the younger grandkids wanted to go out, but needed adults to go with them, and there were only a few adults that wanted to go out so much. Pictures to come. My sisters took all of them, so I’ll post some when I can get them.
Then as usual there were lots of good rain storms in august, and that made big puddles in our parking lot. Glenn (and Kayla too) enjoyed playing and splashing in them.
Here are a couple of videos of the fun
Later in the summer Amanda’s Parents and sister came to visit. We enjoyed having them and were able to show them some of the interesting sites in the area. We started with the Snake River Canyon, and Twin Temple, and the final destination was Craters of the Moon NM. It was fun to explore all of the fun and interesting landscapes there.
Around Amanda’s Birthday we traveled to a Dinosaur Park in Ogden. Glenn had been talking about dinosaurs for a long time because of some of the TV shows he watched. So we decided to visit it. He really liked touring it, especially the playground and the dinosaur digging area, where you could unearth a stegosaurus fossil. We also got to stop by for a quick look at the newly redesigned (and impeccably so) Ogden Temple.
Other misc., smaller things that happened this summer
The county fair parade went by our house (as usual) and we got front row seats, and lots of candy. Though the fire trucks/police cars all came first, which freaked out Glenn, so we had to convince him hard to stay for the rest of it.
Even though we don’t have a private backyard, we do have a backyard we can go and play around with the kids. one time we were out there the neighbors, teenage boys, were playing soccer or something and using the fence as goal, so Kayla was curious and went over to watch. The wide angle picture makes the backyard look MUCH bigger than it really is.
Glenn was having lots of trouble going to bed after we put him in bed. Especially getting into the window which we told him countless times not to. So sleuth dad did some investigative work and was able to catch him in the act, putting the camera under the door. We eventually decided we needed to change his bedtime, and after looking at professional recommendations, we had been trying to give him more sleep than he needed. (No wonder he didn’t go to sleep). So now he gets to stay up and our (or 2 if he behaves).
Other fun pics, not really having to do with anything in particular.
one of those “clothing optional” days
New shirt for Glenn we ordered online-was supposed be in his size; looks more like a dress?!
“kids in a blanket”, or as Glenn calls them, burritos.
It’s nice, we are close enough to the church to walk in warm weather.
As mentioned before, the kids really like being in this window seat thing, love watching all of the traffic below.
Kayla has really started to be a book lover.
Her hair is getting longer and longer. Usually sits pretty still to have it done, with the help of videos on phones.
Glenn still likes his train set.
But cars are still his favorite. This is at a cousins house. He played here for hours.
yay! Great post, love the videos!
